The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) said it has received a number of submissions from stakeholders in relation to the review of the framework governing the community broadcasting sector, following the publication of a discussion document.

The watchdog said the expected outcomes of the review include streamlined community broadcasting regulations, a review of the community broadcasting licensing framework, as well as operational guidelines for the community broadcasting sector.

ICASA has now scheduled public hearings where parties will present their oral representations in support of their written submissions for consideration by the Committee of Council.
